The Makers service

MAKER'S SERVICE: TERMS & CONDITIONS

WHAT IS THE MAKER'S SERVICE?

The Maker's Service allows you to source a fabric you love and have me make it into one of my designs. You choose the style, we chat about the details, and I'll take it from there.

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS

How much fabric to send
Please send the following as a guide:

Vest tops: 1 metre

Waistcoat: 1 metre + 1 metre lining

Short sleeve tops: 1.5 metres

Full length sleeve tops: 2 metres

Trousers: 3.25 metres minimum

I'll confirm the exact amount needed when you get in touch with your chosen style and fabric details, as width and fabric type can affect this. This ensures I have enough to work with and cut accurately.

What's included
All threads, elastic, and haberdashery required to complete your garment are supplied by me and included in the cost of your make. Buttons for skirts are also included. If you'd like to choose your own buttons and be a little creative with it, you're very welcome to supply your own. Please note that no deduction will be made from your making price if you choose to do so.

Lining for waistcoats
Waistcoats will require a lining. I'm happy to source this for you at a cost of £8 for the 1 metre needed, or you're welcome to send your own lining fabric along with your main fabric.

Natural fibres only
I work exclusively with natural fibres including cottons, linens, viscose, rayons, and similar. I'm unable to work with polyester or synthetic fabrics.

Pre-washing your fabric
All fabric must be pre-washed before sending. This is really important as natural fibres can shrink significantly on their first wash. If your garment is made before the fabric is washed, it may no longer fit correctly after you launder it at home. Pre-washing ensures your finished piece is true to size and made to last.

Your fabric will arrive straight from the supplier unwashed, I will pre-wash it for you at a charge of £8.

SENDING YOUR FABRIC

Postage to me is at your cost. You're welcome to send fabric directly from your supplier, just make sure my address is the delivery address and let me know it's on its way.

If you can, Please include a note inside your parcel with your full name, order number, and email address so I can match your fabric to your order quickly and keep you updated.

Please always use Royal Mail Tracked with Signature when sending fabric. Royal Mail's tracked service includes insurance cover up to £100 in the event of a lost parcel, which gives you valuable peace of mind. Please be aware that other couriers such as Evri do not offer this level of cover, so I'd always recommend Royal Mail for sending fabric to me. I'm unable to take responsibility for parcels lost in transit.

Please place your order before sending any fabric. I'll be in touch with my address once your order has been confirmed. Please don't send fabric before this, as I may not be able to match it to an order.

Before you buy your fabric, please do get in touch with me first so I can advise on the right quantities for your chosen style. I'd hate for you to buy too little or more than you need.

A note on sizing and fit
If you have any questions about sizing or measurements, please ask before placing your order. I want to make sure you end up with something you love. Please note that this is a making service rather than a bespoke fitting service. My patterns are made to standard sizes, with the option to adjust length. I'm not able to reshape or regrade patterns to individual body measurements, so it's always worth checking the size guide or dropping me a message if you're unsure.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOUR FABRIC ARRIVES

Once your fabric arrives I'll check it over and be in touch to confirm everything is good to go.

If there isn't enough fabric or a flaw in the fabric to complete your chosen style, I'll contact you straight away and we'll look at one of three options together:

You source and send additional fabric
We agree on an alternative style that works with what's there
You'd like your fabric returned, with return postage at your cost

STYLES AVAILABLE

The Maker's Service covers all of my tops, waistcoats and trousers.
Jumpers and knitwear styles are not available for this service.

Sizing
Garments are made to my standard sizes. I'm happy to make a style shorter or longer for an alteration fee of £10, as this requires me to adjust the pattern. Please mention any length preferences when you place your order.

LEFTOVER FABRIC & OFFCUTS

Any offcuts will be returned to you with your finished garment at no extra cost.

If you'd prefer to let me keep your offcuts for use in my zero waste range, I'll give you 20% off your next make as a thank you. Just let me know when you order.

PRICING

The following prices are for the making only and do not include fabric or postage.

Vest: £50

Top / Waistcoat: £65

Skirt / Trousers: £80

These prices reflect my time, skill, and care as a maker. Each garment takes me around 4 to 5 hours to cut and make by hand. I want to be open about that, because I think it's important you understand what goes into every piece I make for you. This is not fast fashion, it's something made slowly and carefully, just for you.

If you have any questions about pricing before you order, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

PAYMENT & TURNAROUND

Payment is required in full upfront before I begin making.

Turnaround time is 2 to 3 weeks from the date your fabric arrives and your order is confirmed.

CANCELLATIONS

Once your fabric has arrived, you have 2 days to cancel your order. After this window, work may have begun and cancellations cannot be accepted.

If you cancel within 2 days, your fabric will be returned to you. Return postage is at your cost and original postage is non-refundable.

IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG

I take great care with every make. In the unlikely event of a making error on my part, I will source replacement fabric and remake the garment.

Please note that once a garment is completed, refunds are not offered. Alterations only. If an alteration is needed, postage to and from me is at your cost.
